What is the Horse Wisdom Program?

The Horse Wisdom Program is an 8 session lesson plan that works to build social and emotional learning skills. Each session focuses on a different skill, with the final session allowing you to reflect on what you've learnt and accomplished.

Lesson Outlines

Lesson 1 The Calm State: Helps clients to build skills in regards to regulating your nervous system and noticing when you are becoming aggravated.

Lesson 2 Mindfulness: Focuses on introspection, awareness of self, awareness of others. Helps to build skills in relation to feeling present and grounded, as well as noticing the body language of yourself and others.

Lesson 3 Personal Space: This lesson focuses on building and understanding boundaries, personal space and the ability to communicate these boundaries effectively.

Lesson 4 Safe Relationships: This Lesson helps to build skills to do with developing and maintaining healthy relationships and the ability to work through conflicts in a safe and healthy way.

Lesson 5 Feelings as Social Mammals: This lesson aims to build skills in becoming aware of the way feelings make you feel in your body. Feelings themselves are not bad, but understanding when and how to express them in a healthy manner is an important skill to.

Lesson 6 Kind Thoughts: Thoughts can effect your mood, language and actions. This lesson focuses on becoming aware of the self-talk, self beliefs and where they come from. The Kind Thoughts session builds skills in noticing unhelpful or helpful thinking.

Lesson 7 Challenge: Builds skills to do with navigating challenges in life and overcoming them.

Lesson 8 Reflection: Explore what you have learnt in these past sessions and how they will aid you in the future.
